Lecture Schedule

Taking part in lectures is the most ideal way to learn herbal medicine; nothing beats the hands-on approach.  This is how Dr. Petley learned botanical and naturoapthic medicine and why he continues the tradition of hands-on learning.  Currently, these workshops are focused primarily in Maine but are also offered throughout New England.  Scroll through the calendar above to see what and where Dr. Petley is teaching!

The material presented by Dr. Petley through instant downloads, various social media outlets, local lectures, and his apprenticeship is not a replacement for seeking medical attention.  No material is meant to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any disease.  The material presented through the instant downloads and social media should be viewed as a complement, much like a textbook, to be used in conjunction with local lectures.  The art of making herbal medicine includes seeing, smelling, touching, and tasting; it utilizes experiences that are best taught from the teacher to the apprentice.

Registration for many classes and Dr. Petley’s Herb Apprenticeship is now available online!  Simply click here to register. NOTE: this is a non-refundable enrollment fee for each class and consists of 10% of the class fee and will be retained if you are not able to make it to the class.  When registering, you may pay the entire class fee online or email Dr. Petley in advance that you are enrolling and pay at the time of the class (using cash, check, or credit card).  Snow dates: registered students will be emailed direct.  Online registration is not available for all classes taught by Dr. Petley – some classes require you to contact the host directly and the contact information will be noted in the calendar.  Preregistration is required for most classes to ensure adequate classroom space, handouts and sample products. A class may be canceled last minute if the class size is not met.

Started in 2017, Dr. Petley’s three-year herbal apprentice program combines both online and local lectures to provide both a theoretical and practical learning experience.  Students who successfully complete year one and two of the program will be invited to observe medical herbalism in the clinic setting during year three.  Click for details.
